Pennsylvania's CROWN Act is live, New York just made textured hair training part of getting a license, and 30 states have now moved. Your crown is not a dress-code violation. It’s a right.
Let's start with the sentence a lot of us waited a long time to hear: in Pennsylvania, your natural hair is now protected by law. Locs, braids, twists, coils, Bantu knots, afros, and extensions were named and now protected in the workplace.
Also, as of September 1, 2026, cosmetology students across New York State are required to learn to work with all hair types and textures, including textured and coily hair, and to prove it as part of the licensing process. Assembly member Michaelle Solages, who sponsored the measure, called it a matter of “equal access to service.”
People Now Want Herbs & Matcha
The quietest drink on the shelf just got loud. Herbal tea is surging, matcha still pulls a million searches a month, and one very herbal brand just blended the two together.
Tea used to be the calm corner of the beverage world. Then 2026 happened. According to October 2026 beverage trend data built from September search figures, “herbal tea” searches are up 50% year over year, a dramatic 173% jump over the past three months, reaching 90,500 searches.
Butterfly pea flower is climbing too, up 22% at 49,500 searches, because apparently we now want our tea calming and color-changing. That's right, your cup can have a plot twist.
And matcha? Matcha is not going anywhere. “Matcha near me” still commands 1,000,000 monthly searches, up 22% year over year, even after easing 18% over the past three months. Shoppers are turning to tea for hydration, relaxation, antioxidant support, and sustained energy, with green teas and herbal blends leading the reach.
